It had been only a month since the two prides had united and the long, bitter war had come to an end. At last, peace returned to the Pride Lands. The grass grew tall again, the herds wandered freely, and the roar of battle was replaced by laughter. Kiara and Kovu had begun preparing to take their place as queen and king, and everything seemed to move in the right direction. Yet peace was not something that came easily. The wounds of the past still lingered, and old ghosts refused to rest. Many lionesses from Zira’s pride were still learning to follow the laws of the Pride Lands, to gain the trust of those they had once fought against. Each sunrise brought progress, but also reminders of what had been lost.

Kiara often watched the lions of both prides mingling near Pride Rock, the sight filling her with hope. But she also saw those who still carried a heaviness in their eyes. One of them was Vitani. Her soon-to-be sister-in-law kept mostly to herself. She was dutiful and obedient, never caused any trouble, yet something in her seemed fragile. Her eyes often looked distant, her voice quiet, her steps slower than usual. She joined hunts and gatherings but never stayed long, always vanishing before the laughter truly began. Most days, she was seen alone, or with her partner, Kasi, sitting quietly beneath the shade of acacia trees. Kiara’s heart ached for her. The young lioness didn’t want to intrude, but she couldn’t ignore what she saw. So one day, when the sun dipped low and painted the rocks gold, Kiara went searching for her.

After a long while, she found her in the Lion Guard’s den. The place was quiet, carved deep into the stone, carrying echoes of the past. Vitani lay near the back wall, staring at the ground, lost in thought.

Kiara hesitated at the entrance. “Vitani? Well, I must say, you picked quite the hiding place.”

Vitani startled, her head snapping up. “Kiar… Princess! What are you doing here?”

Kiara smiled softly and walked closer. “I told you, you can just call me Kiara. I’m your brother’s fiancée, remember? I was looking for you.”

Vitani frowned slightly. “For me? Did something happen?”

Kiara shook her head. “No, everything’s fine. Though maybe I should be the one asking you that.”

For a moment, Vitani didn’t answer. Her tail flicked against the stone floor, eyes lowering to her paws. “What do you mean? Everything seems fine to me.”

Kiara exhaled slowly, sitting beside her. The air was cool and heavy with silence. “I wish that were true,” she said gently. “But it’s clear that something’s bothering you. I don’t want to pry… but you don’t seem happy.”

Vitani stiffened. “Of course I am! Everything’s great!” Her voice rose sharply. “I live in the Pride Lands, I’m not starving, I don’t have to fight for survival every day, everyone’s happy. Everything’s just perfect!” Her last words trembled in the air, sharp with bitterness.

Kiara tilted her head slightly. “Others might seem happy, but you clearly aren’t. Look, I know we don’t know each other well, but I’d like to. I want to understand what’s troubling you, maybe even help.”

Vitani’s ears flattened. She stood up suddenly, pacing a few steps away before turning to face her. Her eyes glimmered with frustration. “Understand? YOU think you can understand? What is there to understand, Kiara?”

Kiara started to speak, but Vitani cut her off before the words could form.

“Everything’s perfect, right? Wonderful! I’m living in the paradise my deranged excuse of a mother always dreamed about! That was her goal, wasn’t it? Who cares that, along the way, in front of everyone, my mother was ready to get rid of me! That doesn’t matter, nothing does, no one does!” Her voice broke. Her chest heaved with every breath, and then the fire in her eyes dimmed. Vitani sank to the ground again, her gaze falling to the shadows.

Kiara’s heart twisted at the sight. She stepped closer, her tone barely a whisper. “I can see you’re hurting because of her. Because of what she did. I just want to help.”

Vitani’s shoulders tensed. “You can’t. No one can. Absolutely no one.”

“Maybe there’s something that could help ease the pain,” Kiara said softly. “Zira was consumed by hatred, by her obsession with revenge. You’re not responsible for her sins. I didn’t want her to die. I tried to save her.”

Vitani’s lips trembled. “I don’t blame you for her death. She brought that upon herself. But can you bring her back? Can you change the past? Can you make her a LOVING mother? Since you want to help so badly?”

“I think, in her own way, she did love you.”

Vitani’s head shot up, eyes blazing, she screamed with anger “You don’t know her! YOU DIDN'T KNOW HER! She wanted to kill me! I defied her once, just once! I didn’t want any more bloodshed after you offered us a chance to live here. My mother wanted to kill me for that! YOU CALL THAT LOVE!?”

The cave fell silent again. The only sound was the echo of her breathing.

Kiara said nothing. She had heard stories of Zira’s cruelty, but hearing it from Vitani made it real in a way it had never been before.

Vitani sighed shakily, her anger dissolving into exhaustion. “That’s the problem, princess. You won’t understand. She didn’t love us. I don’t even know if she could love anyone. She loved revenge. She loved war. She loved the throne and power. She loved Scar. But no one else.”

For a long moment, the two lionesses sat in silence. Tears glimmered in Vitani’s eyes, and Kiara felt her own vision blur.

She wasn’t just mourning her mother, Kiara realized in her thoughts. She was mourning the idea of one.

Vitani’s voice came out fragile, like a whisper. “Is it wrong that, despite everything, I still loved her? That I still love her? I hate who she was, what she became, but those feelings won’t go away. And that’s what hurts the most. I’m just so tired.”

Princess’ chest tightened. She reached out and placed a gentle paw on Vitani’s. “It’s not strange. She may not have been your real mother, but she raised you since you were a cub.”

Her voice cracked. “I love her, and I hate her. How is that normal?”

“You hate her for what she did, but you love her because she was your mother,” Kiara said softly. “Maybe what you truly love is the hope that she could have been better.”

Vitani shook her head slowly. “That hope died with her. I just wanted her to be proud of me. I wanted her to see me. I REALLY tried, Kiara. But I was NEVER enough. Kovu was the perfect one. I don’t blame him, she didn’t love him either. None of us were anything more than pawns in her plan.”

Kiara hesitated for a moment, then stepped forward and wrapped her paws around Vitani, pulling her close. The other lioness stiffened at first, then slowly melted into the embrace.

“You just need time,” Princess whispered. “I don’t know how to truly help you, and you’re right, I’ll never fully understand. But if you ever need someone to listen, I’ll be here. Always.”

Vitani closed her eyes and let out a quiet breath. “Thank you, Kiara.”

For a long time I wanted to create something connected to TLK fan content, since I’ve been stepping back from my main comic in that fandom. I still love the universe, though, so I wanted to have fun with a new headcanon. I wanted to draw something with Kiara and Vitani. In the movie scene where Zira so casually seems willing to trample over anyone to reach her goal and even get rid of her daughter once Vitani realised the fight was pointless, it shows that Zira didn’t truly care about Vitani - she only cared about her own agenda. They never showed how Vitani reacted to those words, and I know it must have been very painful and traumatic. Doing everything for your mother, and then finding out she was ready to throw you away... That’s why I wanted to tackle this difficult topic.

-Golden Freddy! I've honestly only drawn him a small handful of times since 2014, I think he deserved a spot on a sketch page! C:

-Charlie and a very excitable Pim!

-Venom, Spider-Man 3 (2007)! I was 9 when I first saw the film, and so my design is sorta how me as a kid would have liked to see Venom look! I went with a more monstrous, larger frame, I kept the light claw color as I always thought it was a cool design choice, and then took a bit of inspiration for his face from the unused animatronic design that was developed! The Venom that I was familiar with growing up was the comics, Spider-Man: The Animated Series (1994), and so on! I tried to keep mine recognizable as the Raimi version as far as color scheme and details- but gave him a bit of my flair! Definitely gotta draw him again sometime! 8D

-I knew I just had to draw Silly Samuel from the smiling friends season 3 premiere! Also I think a silly sausage looks TASTY and I'd try one fr :V

-Some of the other Smiling Friends doodles I previously shared this month! Featuring.... Front-Facing Pim and Allan XD

-Dry Bowser!!! He's so fun to draw! (I also realized that him and Silly Samuel are like almost doin the same pose 💀💀💀)

I was 10 when the Tamagotchi v4.5 came out, and Ura Mametchi became one of my faves! I used to draw him playing silly pranks on other characters so this doodle is a direct callback to those childhood drawings!

Those are some 90s looking kits...

Shoutout to another little game I love, Button City!

It's a narrative, and emotional, game about friendship and gaming! You play as a little fox named Fennel, and together with your friends, you help save the local arcade, Button City, from being permanently shut down.

This game has a really cute low-poly artstyle and it takes a lot of inspiration from Animal Crossing. The soundtrack is a bop, too. I highly recommend it if you're seeking a cozy story game to play :)

El año pasado me prestaron una cuenta de disney+ para poder ver X-Men97. Aproveche para ver un par de series, pero también aproveche para ver lo que muchos consideran el peor fracaso animado de disney; El Caldero Mágico.

Siempre tuve el morbo de ver si realmente es mala o solo carga con ese estigma porque fue hecha durante la “época obscura” del estudio. Después de verla llegue a la conclusión de que no es mala, solo esta mal hecha XD

Mientras la veía no pude evitar pensar que el personaje de la princesa Elena me recordaban alguien mas, después de un rato caí en cuenta que, por alguna razón, me recordó a la princesa Calla de la serie Los Osos Gummi, y esta a su vez me recordó a la princesa Elyon del cómic W.I.T.C.H. curiosamente también de disney. No digo que sean idénticas, porque no lo son, pero por alguna razón una me fue recordando a las demás. Y fue que recordando eso se me ocurrió hacer este dibujo, básicamente porque no había subido nada en meses.

Last year I got a shared Disney+ account so I could watch X-Men97. I took the chance to watch a couple of series, but I also took this opportunity to see what many consider Disney's worst animated flop: The Black Cauldron.

I've always been curious to see if it's really that bad or if it just carries that stigma because it was made during the studio's "dark ages."After watching it, I arrived to the conclusion that it's not bad, just poorly made. XD

While watching it I couldn't help but thinking about how much Princess Eilonwy reminded me of someone else, after a while I realized that, for some reason, she reminded me of Princess Calla from the Gummi Bears cartoon, and this in turn reminded me of Princess Elyon from the W.I.T.C.H. comic, curiously also from Disney. I'm not saying they're identical, they're not, but for some reason one reminded me of the other two. And with that in mind, I decided to do this drawing, basically because I hadn't posted anything for months.

I had fun with this one, imma huge Pokemon fan :)

But as a fan I have to admit, the games were better before they went full 3D.

(Judy actually looks like a trainer, but Nick, not so much. I tried to give Nick a outfit similar to N's)

But I’ve always found it to be the more photogenic peak. It’s like when @milesmorganphotography and I are together… one is taller and more popular, but the other is the better of the two. The Bentonite Hills consist of blue, red, purple, and green clays created by volcanic ash, giving the hills a rainbow color. While many places in Utah are known to look like Mars, such as Goblin Valley State Park and the Bonneville Salt Flats, people are usually referring to the rainbow mountains of the Bentonite Hills and Hanksville, Utah, when they are talking about “Mars,” Utah. Utah’s rainbow mountains near Hanksville, Utah, rightfully earn the nickname of “Mars” for two reasons. One, because the area’s extraterrestrial rainbow mountains make you feel like you are on a foreign planet. And, two, because the Mars Desert Research Station (a Mars research station run by the US-registered non-profit called The Mars Society) is located in a little nook of the colorful hills outside of Hanksville, Utah.

青城后山的这个不知名的瀑布群相当宏伟秀丽，目测落差达到了百米，从岩壁顶部奔流而下。因为光照较少的缘故，崖壁上布满了大面积的青苔和植被，置身其中，仿佛回到了史前星球。进入六月后，瀑布也来到了水量充沛的丰水季，离得近一点便会湿身。抵近拍摄使得我身上的两个手机泡水了，相机也进了水汽（水花瞬间便会布满镜头，不停擦拭也没啥用）。照片中的人是我自己，是与瀑布分开拍摄通过后期缩小比例加上去的，目的是增加画面对比。最后，这里是爬不上去的，就算爬上去也很危险且不环保，请注意拍摄安全。 使用富图宝磐图羽TT-5脚架辅助拍摄。 @知柏 @纯纯 @城市穿梭客

The light. Light is an important thing. Not only in photography but also in our lives. A dark sky usually does not bode well, a slightly clear sky, on the other hand, makes people happy and cheerful. If only one small light is on in a room when it is dark, then there is a stuffy mood, but when all the lights come on, the people in that room become active. So light has great value. Now I'm talking about literal light. But there is another light that affects us. That is our inner light, the light that we radiate ourselves. If we radiate light ourselves, it also has a positive effect on our fellow human beings. A smile on your face is such a light. A smile on someone's face is priceless. A smile on someone's face is contagious and also gives the person who sees the smile a positive feeling. Be important to your fellow man and radiate that as the priceless light. God bless.
